Established in 1986, P&J Motoring School is an independent, family-run driving school. With two generations of experience, we offer the highest quality driver training and instruction in Guildford and the surrounding area.

As an independent driving school we aren’t tied to any set methods of teaching, as you might find with larger driving schools. Every pupil is an individual and we will tailor each lesson to suit your individual needs. We take our time to understand your specific goals and always ensure we work at a pace that is comfortable for you.Above all, at P&J Motoring School we have a real passion for driving and get huge enjoyment from seeing our pupils succeed and become safe, confident drivers.
Following in the tyre marks of my father, in 2005 I decided to pursue a change in career. This also led to my father becoming my business partner.
This was an easy decision, having passed my driving test first time thanks to his excellent tuition! I have lived in the local area all my life and like to think my knowledge of the roads in and around the Guildford area is pretty good. My style and level of teaching is very much adaptable to each individual’s needs. I like to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible and help my pupils feel relaxed from the off.
30 years ago I embarked upon a career change and trained to become a driving instructor, qualifying in 1982.
For the first twenty years of my career, I solely trained learner drivers, but then decided I wanted to enhance my career and took further training to become a Fleet Trainer and Advanced Tutor. I also gained other teaching qualifications, which has given me the opportunity to work on police courses including Speed Awareness. Despite the varied range of courses I have worked on, passing my wealth of experience on to learner pupils still gives me the most enjoyment.
